Viably ATTENDING California Compost Workshop & Demo Day
Diamond Z distributor Viably will be attending its fourth annual California Compost Workshop & Demo Day on 22 October 2026, bringing together industry professionals, policymakers, compost producers, and organics recycling experts for a day of education, discussion, equipment demonstrations, and networking.
The event will focus on some of the most important topics currently shaping California's composting and organics recycling industries, including SB 1383 implementation, contamination reduction strategies, compost market development, and large-scale organics recovery programmes.
Tour of Otay Sustainability Park
The day will begin with an exclusive tour of the Otay Sustainability Park in Chula Vista, a large-scale composting facility operated by Republic Services. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the facility's advanced composting operations first-hand, including its solar-powered aerated static pile system and depackaging technology used to process commercial organic waste streams.
Equipment demonstrations will also showcase technologies helping facilities improve efficiency and maximise material recovery.
Expert Panels and Industry Insights
Following the tour, attendees will return to The Sinclair on G Street for an afternoon of presentations and panel discussions covering:
Planning for compost and climate resiliency
Expanding compost market opportunities
Organics recovery programmes at large-scale institutions
Strategies for reducing contamination in organic waste streams
Regulatory updates and insights from CalRecycle
